About JF Advanced Analytics
Josh Fody is the founder of JF Advanced Analytics, a boutique engineering consultancy focused on a specific and consequential problem: programs making high-stakes decisions based on point estimates — one number, assumed to be right, with no honest accounting of how wrong it could be. What he delivers instead is uncertainty quantification — a range of results and their respective probabilities, along with a clear map tracing inputs as sources of uncertainty — so attention can be directed to those contributors that matter most.
He is especially valuable on problems with complex physics. This work combines rigorous probabilistic analysis with physics-based modeling, so predictions reflect not only what the data suggest, but also the real-world behavior the system must obey—making results more reliable and less prone to implausible outcomes. His background spans both hands-on experimental work and computational modeling, which means an intuitive understanding of the challenges in obtaining clean, consistent measurements in real-world environments and how to handle these limitations and build analyses robust enough to perform.
Josh spent nearly twelve years as an engineer at NASA Langley, working at the intersection of physics based modeling, uncertainty quantification, and high-consequence engineering problems with sparse, noisy, high-stakes data. He holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering and completed a one-year academic AI/ML program at NC State. His work at NASA produced fifteen peer-reviewed publications and technical memoranda, thirteen conference presentations including one invited talk, and a US patent licensed four times by private companies. He received the NASA Early Career Achievement Medal, the NASA Research and Technology Award, and an honorable mention for the NASA Government Invention of the Year and has served as a thermal-structures subject matter expert on the Office of Chief Engineer’s review board.
JF Advanced Analytics operates as a lean, independent consultancy — no overhead, no junior analysts. The credentialed expert who scopes the work executes it, engaging directly with the client throughout to ensure the final deliverable is calibrated to their actual operating context and business process. Every engagement is fixed-scope with defined deliverables and a clean handoff to a validated, operational output.
JF Advanced Analytics is an SBA certified Veteran Owned Small Business (VSOB).
